Cross-country season ends for Ram runners

The Greene County cross-country team narrowly missed qualifying individuals for the state cross-country meet. The Rams ran Thursday in a qualifying race at Panorama. Ram girls placed 12th, 13th and 14th, but only the top 10 individuals qualify for the state meet to be held Nov. 1 in Fort Dodge.

Seniors Emily Christensen and Eme Johnson finished 12th and 13th with times of 18:29.0 and 18:33.5 respectively. Freshman Emily Finch was right behind Johnson in 14th place with a time of 18:33.8. Other places were seniors Noelle Grey, 18th, 18:56.4 and Jolee Wessling, 32nd, 19:56.8. Junior Cassidy Adamson finished in 55th place with a time of 21:43.5.

Fastest time at Panorama for the girls 4K race was Amelia Fisher of North Polk with a time of 17:13. The fastest time at 2A qualifying meets statewide was Ellie Friesen of Osage with a time of 14:33 at New Hampton.

In the boys 5K race, seniors Logan Egeland and Landon Braun finished in 13th and 19th places, with times of 19:14.3 and 19:29.9 respectively. Other runners posted finishes as follows: freshman Kane Borgeson, 52nd, 21:12.2; junior Anthony Cunningham, 56th, 21:19.5; junior Ethan Woodruff, 61st, 21:27.0; freshman Michael Eischeid, 65th, 21:37.2; and senior Abe Yoder, 74th, 22:21.5.

In the team races, the girls placed fourth 11 teams, with North Polk claiming the title. The boys placed eighth of 14 teams; Red Oak won the title.
